What the FT550 does on Flea

Quick answer: Flea uses the FT550 to control the 2ZZ-GE and log wideband, oil pressure, fuel pressure, RPM, throttle, launch behavior and C60 gear changes in one run.

Flea uses a FuelTech FT550 as the main engine-management and race-data hub for the naturally aspirated 2ZZ-GE. The value is not one feature by itself. It is the ability to compare engine RPM, throttle, wideband, pressure sensors, launch behavior and gear changes in the same log.

Wideband

FuelTech Nano wideband data gives mixture feedback through the run.

Fuel pressure

Pressure data helps separate a fuel-delivery issue from a tuning change.

Oil pressure

Logging pressure through launch and shifts helps monitor the high-rpm 2ZZ oiling system.

These are Flea setup values, not a claim that every C60 in every market uses the same final drive.

How Flea uses logs after a pass

A useful comparison starts with the timeslip, then checks the log for the reason. Examples include:

  • Compare RPM acceleration before and after each gear change.
  • Check whether throttle stayed open through the pass.
  • Review wideband, fuel pressure and oil pressure together.
  • Compare shift recovery instead of looking only at peak RPM.
  • Match the log to 60-foot, ET and MPH from the same run.
The point is correlation. A faster timeslip with healthy sensor data is stronger evidence than changing a tune from one number in isolation.
